How It Works

Fund your Bitcoin wallet by scanning a barcode at a participating retailer.

1. Download the App

Before you can use BDCheckout™, you need to install the Bitcoin Depot mobile app.

2. Select a Location

Choose the retail location you wish to use. When you’re ready, tap Load Cash.*

*Only in participating states.

3. Select Purchase Amount

Enter the amount you’d like to load and select your wallet.

4. Generate Barcode

The app will generate a barcode for the retailer to scan. Head to the retailer to scan and pay.

5. Scan at Checkout

5. When you arrive at the checkout, show the clerk the barcode that you generated in the app and ask them to scan it. (*Pro tip - No need to mention "bitcoin" at the checkout, you only need to ask the clerk to scan your barcode.)

6. Transaction Complete

Once your funds are added to your wallet, click "Buy BTC Now" to complete the transaction. You're done!

Do I need the Bitcoin Depot app to purchase crypto through Bitcoin Depot?

You will need to download and scan a special barcode in the Bitcoin Depot app for purchases using BDCheckout™. For online purchases and BTMs, any digital wallet will work. If you don’t already have a digital wallet, you can create one in the app to receive and store your crypto.

Can I buy Bitcoin in person?

Yes! You can buy Bitcoin directly from a Bitcoin ATM with cash. You can also load cash to your Bitcoin wallet in person using BDCheckout™, all you have to do is find a location, generate a barcode, scan the code, and hand over your cash to fund your Bitcoin wallet. You can find locations for in-person purchases here.

What’s a digital wallet and which one should I use?

The only way to send and receive Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is through a digital wallet. Each wallet has a unique address specific to you. There are many good wallet providers available. You can also create a wallet in the Bitcoin Depot app. Bitcoin Depot brings a wallet that allows you to send, receive, and store over 100 different crypto currencies.

Do you sell cryptocurrencies besides Bitcoin?

No, At this time, you can only purchase Bitcoin at our BTMs. Depending on the state of regulatory conditions, we can turn on and off the purchase of other cryptos, like Litecoin and Ethereum.
